Shine a light for innovative vision research
Luminaries is a new monthly giving program designed to make supporting CERA’s life-changing vision research easy.
Research and clinical trials play a vital role in developing new treatments for eye disease, and the support of our generous donors is a crucial part of making them happen.
CERA Luminaries, our new monthly giving program, is designed to make supporting our sight-saving work easy while ensuring donations have the maximum impact.
Regular donations help us plan for long-term, ambitious research into conditions like glaucoma to help people like Ann Lally, a participant in our world-first trial into the role of vitamin B3 in slowing the progress of the disease.
“Part of the grief of first learning that I had glaucoma was thinking about my grandchildren and seeing the milestones of their lives,” says Ann.
“Even if research doesn’t help me today – it could make a real difference to helping someone else in the future.”
Historic support
This work has been made possible thanks to CERA’s donors.
A donor to CERA since 1995, Sandra Lake first started making monthly contributions in 2008. She is one of CERA’s first Luminaries, recognising her significant support of our work.
Her inspiration to donate is a personal one.
“My father had macular degeneration, and he was a keen jogger and a professional cyclist in his younger days,” she says.
“And then his eyesight was just such a diabolical change to his lifestyle.”
Ongoing support from Sandra, and people like her, ensures our researchers and clinical trials team can continue to perform life-changing research that aims to one day eliminate vision loss caused by conditions including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and inherited retinal disease.
“I think losing your eyesight must be absolutely devastating,” says Sandra.
“And if I can contribute to helping research, then why not?”
Significant impact
By pledging a monthly donation of your choice, you too can make a difference to our world-leading research and clinical trials and, most importantly, for people living with eye disease.
Regular donations give researchers the confidence to plan for long term research projects.
It also reduces the burden of paperwork and combining all your donations into a single tax receipt at the end of the financial year.
Join us today and become a CERA Luminary. From just $15 a month, your tax-deductible donation will help us continue world-leading research to find ways to prevent vision loss and blindness.
