Jacqui Henwood is an optometrist who completed her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Melbourne.
Since joining the ophthalmic epidemiology team in 2021 as Research Project Manager, Jacqui has been facilitating the roll out of the Medical Research Future Fund Artificial Intelligence Grant.
This project aims to use artificial intelligence with retinal imaging to improve earlier diagnosis, targeted referrals, and standardisation of care by screening for common eye diseases and cardiovascular disease risk.
As an optometrist, Jacqui has worked in different clinical settings including corporate, independent and domiciliary optometry. She has an interest in ocular pathology, myopia control and advancements in technology to be used in eye care.

- Improved early diagnosis of eye diseases by integration of retinal photography and artificial intelligence to build an opportunistic screening service in endocrinology and primary care settings.
- Assessing cardiovascular risk by integrating retinal photography and artificial intelligence at primary care settings.
