This year’s 26th ride starts on Thursday 11 April and covers a staggering 350 km over four days through the beautiful Victorian coastal regions.

Our intrepid riders this year include HR Advisor Tanya Pejnovic and Senior Research Fellow Dr Elaine Chong. Both veterans of the ride, the great sense of community and inspiration drawn from the riders keeps both coming back to tackle the hilly region.

“I’ve completed two previous rides with the Lions and it has been one of the best experiences ever,” says Dr Chong.

“Riding along with the vision-impaired riders who participate with tandem riders is very inspiring and I am happy to be involved to help fundraise for eye research.”

HR Advisor Tanya Pejnovic makes it a family affair, having done the ride last year with her son and this year with her husband.

“I had a great time riding last year with a friendly group who are interested in helping support CERA’s research,” she says.

“The Lions District 201V3 provides wonderful hospitality and really takes care of their riders.”

Lions Ride for Sight organiser Nine Blythe said Lions District 201V3 is proud to have supported CERA’s research into eye disease for the past 25 years, giving more people a chance to save their sight.

“Since the ride began, we have cycled over 9,000 km for eye research – that’s like traveling from Melbourne to Broom and back!”

You can support this year’s ride and our riders by donating through our Everyday Hero page – every dollar counts.

You can also cheer on Tanya and Elaine by following their progress during the ride on CERA’s Facebook or Twitter.
