Dr Sloan Wang
Research Fellow, Retinal Gene Therapy
PhD
Dr Sloan Wang is a Research Fellow in CERA’s Retinal Gene Therapy team, working on a preclinical study of a gene therapy for an inherited ocular disease.
He received his PhD in Ophthalmology from the University of Melbourne in 2018, investigating the role of microRNAs (molecules that regulate gene expression) in retinal neovascularisation, a severe complication of diabetic eye disease.
Through his recent travels to the leading gene therapy groups in Oxford and MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Dr Wang has gained skills in applying a powerful gene editing tool, CRISPR, to tune gene expression in vitro and in vivo, and strategies to develop novel AAV serotypes.
