Keratoconus survey for national and international corneal specialists
CERA is encouraging corneal specialists to take part in a survey investigating the diagnosis and management of keratoconus patients.
CERA is encouraging corneal specialists to take part in a survey investigating the diagnosis and management of keratoconus patients.
Led by Dr Srujana Sahebjada, the survey aims to assess the approaches to management and diagnosis of keratoconus around the world.
Dr Sahebjada leads CERA’s Keratoconus International Consortium, which brings together 40 keratoconus research teams from around the world.
She says having a better understanding of global trends in treatment and diagnosis will ultimately lead to better treatment for patients.
“Despite the increasing prevalence of keratoconus, there is no globally established system for diagnosing or classifying the disease,’’ she says.
“There is also no globally accepted definition around disease progression or diagnosis and management criteria for the condition.
“These survey results will help us understand the clinicians’ perspective of the condition and present the similarities and differences in global diagnostic and treatment of patients.’’
